American Muscle Cars on the road

During this summer I got the chance to photograph a couple of American muscle cars in their natural environment, which means the highway. Add a sunset and the results is what you see.

In total we had 5 different muscle cars from the sixties and seventies, among them one GTO, one Dodge Challenger, one Corvette Stingray, one Pontiac Firebird and one hot rod which I can’t really say how new it was, but it had an engine from an old Ford Mustang.

Tha main purpose for the photo shoot was to get a couple of photos for a car cleaning company that wanted to add some images to their image bank. And not the usual studio looking pics of clean and shiny cars.

So, we assembled some car lovers and their cars and started driving on the highways outside Stockholm in Sweden one beautiful evening in the summer. As always, most of the pics were unusable, either because of bad focus or too much stuff in the background. But some came out nice so the event was successful, I think.

Car photography is not an easy task. Especially when trying to take photos from one of the muscle cars, cramped in a small passenger seat trying to hold the camera still for just a second.

I wish I could try this again, but with a more fitting backdrop, maybe Arizona next time? The cars definately deserve it.
