When having a crappy cell phone camera as the one in the iPhone, any app that can at least save some of the photos are worth considering. Everybody says that the best camera you have is the one you always have with yuo, and that might be true.
But if every other photo you take is dark and without any contrast, it’s no fun. And with the camera in the iPhone (the old one that I have), that is the case. If you can at least make the colours pop a little and not let the camera get fooled by strong contrast or really light areas, it would be great.
I just read about a new app that promised to enhance the pics a bit, so I bought it ($2.99 on AppStore). It is called Perfectly Clear and is made by a company named Athentech Imaging that works with optimizing lighting in photos.
To try it out, I used a photo I took one beautiful summer morning just after sunrise. The result was not that beautiful.
From the start, this photo is quite noisy, but in a cell phone camera that might not be the most important factor? At least not for me. If I could just have some more contrast and colours, it would be ok for me.
The resulting image is better in terms of pop, colours and contrast. But of course, the noise is more visible. All in all, for viewing on the iPhone, this works for me. So it is worth 3 dollars I think, but don’t take my word for it.
This might not be the best type of photo to use this app on, I tried some which required less adjustments that came out better in terms of noise and all that. But to see what it could do, this might be more realistic.
Do you like it, or have an app that is better? Please let me know.
